I have about a fist-sized amount of axillary breast tissue in both armpits. I am planning on getting it removed. I am also rather flat chested. Is there any kind of procedure available that can transfer my axillary breast tissue to my breasts? If so, how likely would I be to find a provider in my area (DFW) willing to do so? Thanks!
Answer: Fat transfer Dear icomeanon, glandular tissue is not used for tranfer. Fat transfer breast augmentation is a viable alternative for women who desire larger breasts without the use of implants. Fat transfer is also widely used in reconstruction of the breast after a mastectomy or lumpectomy. It can also be very effective in correcting the size and shape of the breasts due to genetic problems such as tuberous breast or Poland Syndrome, two conditions that look like misshapen or underdeveloped breasts. In addition, the following scenarios are also reason to consider breast fat grafting:• If you have chest areas that appear creased and sunken• If you desire more permanent correction than is provided by temporary fillers• If you wish to improve your body contour, revise scars, fill bodily depressions and rejuvenate the natural curve of your breasts• To fill in contour irregularities or hide obvious signs of breast implantsYou should discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon and make sure your surgeon understands your concerns and your breast augmentation goals. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: How likely would I be to find a provider in my area willing to transfer axillary breast tissue to the breasts? In general, the abdomen and thighs are preferred donor sites but fat, not axillary breast tissue, from other areas can be used.

Answer: Breast tissue Axillary breast tissue is not transferred into the breast because of the risk of loosing blood supply to that area of tissue. If you have donor fat available, then it could be transferred into your breasts. Otherwise, implants would be your best option.

Answer: Transferring breast tissue I am not aware of anyone transferring breast tissue. You may be able to transfer your own fat to the breast area, but not breast tissue. Axillary breast tissue, or the Tail of Spence, is part of the normal anatomy and can be removed, but it will need to be surgical excised. Since it is breast tissue, and not fat, it does not respond to liposuction. Please see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who performs breast enhancement procedures frequently to assure the best possible result.Good Luck!
