Do modest breast fat transfers put you at a lower risk of breast lumps and unsmooth lipo areas?

Hello, thank you for your question. It is reasonable to expect  lumps to improve or soften with time. As scars mature, they soften. This process may take several months. If the lump is the result of swelling, seroma, or hematoma, it should resolve quickly. If the lump is fat necrosis or viable fat that becomes discrete and remains palpable, it may require further treatment like aspiration or removal.
If a second procedure is indicated, you can usually tell by 6 weeks. Depending upon healing characteristics, it may be reasonable to perform the second surgery at 3 months.
Some of the retention rate will depend upon the amount of fat transferred, as smaller volumes will likely have a higher survival. Occasionally, a patient can resorb a great deal of the fat despite optimal transfer procedures. I typically transfer from 250 cc to 400 cc or so per breast. Thinner patients are outstanding candidates in my opinion, because the fat transferred is extremely resistant.  
Results are largely dependent upon the skill of the surgeon, his/her ability to remove fat without creating contour deformities, and your expectations. You would need a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine your available fat stores.

Usually with fat transfer, you may gain one half to one cup in size. The fat is placed inside the breast. If you are an A/AA, you have little breast tissue for fat transfer. You would probably do better with implants and get a more consistent result. Otherwise, it may take more than one transfer.
