My tempoary crown has fallen off 4 times in 7 days. Do I really need to continue getting it put back on at the dentist?

I am sorry to hear about this.  The probable cause is one of a few things.1. A very short tooth leaving little tooth for the crown to hang on to.2. Potential grinding.3.  Improper fit of temporary crown.4.  Poor cement.It is important to keep a temporary on that tooth for so your permanent crown fits.  Have your dentist reevaluate the tooth and perhaps make a new temporary.  I would have them speed up the process of having the Oermanent crown made.  Best of luck.  

Hello Tanya,It's important that your temporary crown stays in place.  Your temporary prevents neighboring teeth from shifting, prevents sensitivity and helps prevent fracture.  I would recommend having your temporary crown recemented as soon as possible.  Good luck and I hope this helps. Sometimes "things happen" with temporary crowns, so products were developed to recement them at home.  Most grocery stores and pharmacies have cement that is similar to what is used in the dental office.  Follow the directions enclosed and you should be fine.Sometimes patients return without their temporary and state they lost it on the first day (this is VERY rare in my office, but "things happen").  We may need to adjust things to get the crown to fully seat, but there usually is no lasting issue.
