I recently have gotten my 2nd molar treated with a root canal and have had the temporary crown placed three weeks ago. At the time when the permanent crown was to be placed, my dentist suggested getting a wisdom tooth removal on tooth 16 before placing the permanent crown. My wisdom tooth is partially impacted but primarily horizontal. Her concern was she felt the crown would sit better without the wisdom tooth and this would improve the lifespan of the crown. Is this really necessary?
