Fixing a double eyelid crease possible? (Photo)

Question

I am Asian and one of my eyes is always a single lid while my other eye can also be a single lid but it usually becomes a double lid when I blink. Is it possible for any surgery to fix the crease on my left eye which has the double lid to look like how my other eye is? My old child photos and also from my high school graduation pictures, both eyes were always single lidded. Is it possible to correct this eye to match my single lidded eye again? Thank you!

The good news is that the answer to your question is yes. It is possible to fix the eyelid with the double crease to make it more symmetrical with your other eye. Those double eyelid crease attachments are usually not very strong, and they can be interrupted, and the skin redraped, when creating a more defined and crisp single fold on that eyelid, to better match the fold on the opposite upper eyelid.  The two folds probably will not be exactly identical, but they should represent a substantial improvement in symmetry over your present situation.

Yes, you most likely can "fix" this or make it much better.  Over 30% of the Asian eyelid surgeries I perform are for asymmetry as apposed to making a double eyelid or large overall change in the look of the eyes.  Many patients simply want more even eyelid creases.You best option for a more reliable and long lasting outcome would be incision technique Asian eyelid surgery.  I'll attach some photos of cases similar to yours.Chase Lay, MD Asian eyelid surgery specialist.

Restoring the anatomy of the Asian eyelid is possible releasing the attachment creating the fold.
