Is it possible to go from a double eyelid to a single eyelid? Or to create an epicanthal fold in people without one? (photos)

I'm Japanese American and I'm very insecure about my eyes because people sometimes say I don't look like I am Japanese. I'm really, really horribly insecure about this and I would do anything to have a single eyelid instead of the double eyelid I have now. Please help!

A lot of things change during the initial six months. You had a fair amount of facial surgery. The ptosis repair looks good at this point. Once the swelling is improved, you'll look much more normal and you can more readily assess your surgery.

Both options are reasonable and would look great for you. Being conservative is the safest approach if there is any uncertainty, so a tapered eyelid is the way to go for you. It would give you bigger eyes with a nice crease, yet would prevent a potential artificial appearance. Make an in office...

Simply rubbing the eyelid at this point should not chance the surgical outcome. Apply cold packs for a few days. See your surgeon if you do not look back to normal in a week. Good luck,

Even though you are prone to form keloids, this is very rare to see in the eyelids. It is important to inform your surgeon of your propensity to form them, so extra caution can be given. Make an appointment with an oculoplastic surgeon who handles Asian eyelids and complex cases. Good luck.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. Your eyelid might be swollen. You can try cold compresses and take Benedry at nighttime. If you are not improving, see an eyelid specialist who can manage unusual problems (oculoplastic surgeon). Your condition is likely to resolve with time.
