Is it possible to go from a double eyelid to a single eyelid? Or to create an epicanthal fold in people without one? (photos)

Your eyelid crease is very natural, even for a person of Asian ethnicity. About 50% of the Asian population have a naturally occurring crease like you have. Trying to create a monolid is not possible without causing significant scarring and a very unnatural result that you will regret!You have very attractive looking eyelids now...do not mess with them!

 I'm sorry to hear about your trouble and insecurity. The crease that you have in the photo you provide looks natural and I am sure appears attractive on what is an attractive face. It is possible to lower a crease but to go from a double eyelid to a true Monolid May not be possible. I have lowered many creases on eyelids and created more full eyelid  above the crease to create a more "Asian" look.   Some of what you have been told regarding scarring is true. All that being said, try to appreciate the good features that you do have. I have no doubt you're an attractive person.  It's probably best that you talk to close friends or family openly about your feelings. Do not try to undergo any surgery. Chase Lay MD 

There is no good surgical procedure to switch a double eyelid to a single eyelid and it can be very difficult to remove an eyelid crease. There are many Japanese and Japanese Americans who naturally have double eyelids so please be confident about your heritage!
