Why am I taking so long to heal and do you think I have hyper pigmentation staining or something? Thanks
Answer: Swelling 6 weeks after upper eyelid fold creation is normal. Hello, Your eyes look very good. I agree that you have some swelling of the eyelids but it is normal for you 6 weeks after this type of surgery. Your lids do not look infected and there is very nice symmetry. If you had a single fold prior to the procedure, you should be happy with your result. I have seen isolated post-operative hyperpigmentation in a few of my darker skinned blepharoplasty patients. These hyperpigmented areas have been small and usually located at the inner corners of the eyelids and incisions. Topical tretinoin and hydroquinone creams have been helpful in clearing up these cases. I do not believe that you have any hyperpigmentation that requires additional treatment at this time. In addition, time is always beneficial to every healing process. Continue to be patient with your healing process. The swelling you see in your upper eyelids will go away in a few more weeks. If you have environmental allergies that are bothering you now then treat the allergies appropriately. If your eyes feel dry then use over the counter saline tear replacement drops. Try to limit the salt intake in your diet and sleep with your head elevated without hurting your neck or interfering with your sleep. Hang in there!

Answer: Swelling at 6 weeks Thank you for the question. It appears that you are healing adequately. The residual swelling should clear up. Often a Medrol Pack (steroid) helps to hasten recovery. Give it a couple of more months to improve. See your surgeon for follow up. Good luck,

Answer: Double eyelid surgery It does seem like you still have a little bit of swelling after the surgery. For my patients who are not diabetic and would like to get rid of the swelling more quickly, I usually recommend a short course of oral steroids. It may also be helpful to sleep with your head elevated and use warm compresses to the area to help your body to heal more quickly. Overall, it looks like you are doing very well. Make sure that your surgeron is aware of all of your concerns. Wish you a speedy recovery!

Answer: Healing after double eyelid surgery He certainly are swollen but possibly still within the spectrum of normal. Certainly, even some of my patients have had postoperative healing that went on longer than I expected. In general you can expect to look fairly natural or normal within about 2 weeks of Asian eyelid surgery or double eyelid surgery. Whether it be incision technique Asian eyelid surgery or suture technique Asian eyelid surgery you certainly want to avoid social situations for around 2 weeks if you are very private or shy about the surgery that you just had.You need to follow up closely with your surgeon. In some situations injections with Kenalog or 5-fluorouracil can be helpful. Massage or warm packs can also help but do not do any the settings before consulting with your surgeon or another facial plastic surgeon. Also, do not use scar gels or creams or special ointments at this time. That will most likely irritate the skin and make it worse. Antibiotic ointment at this time would be a particularly bad idea.Go see your doctorChase Lay, MDAsian eyelid surgery specialist
