Asymmetrical nostrils after Mohs? (Photo)

Question

29 year old female. Mohs procedure to remove 3 mm BCC on middle left side of nose. Simple closure but still opted to have plastic surgeon do it. Received 2 internal stitches and 5 external stitches. My concern is my nostrils are now asymmetrical. The Dr. was little help insisted he couldn't see difference. Pic taken 12 hours after surgery. Bandage not on tight so not pulling anything. Is this asymmetry just temporary swelling or could stitching have been done incorrectly and will heal like this?

The asymmetry is most likely a result of swelling if it's only 12 hours post-procedure.  In fact, minor swelling could be present for many months.  Wait a few weeks to see how things heal.  Good luck!

You will likely need to wait a few weeks for the swelling to subside. It is quite possible that you have nostril asymmetry after the surgery, depending on how much of the skin tissue was removed. I would advise my Mohs surgery patients to apply Plato's Scar Serum once the skin heals to reduce hypertrophy.Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

Like you said, this is right after surgery and you have a tight bandage on. I wouldn't worry. Swelling in the nose can persist for several weeks or a few months. Do not panic. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and
