Tummy tuck revision with Galaflex mesh? (Photo)

Question

I had a TT, MR and Lipo on my flanks after 3 months I notice a bulge in my upper stomach is soft and when I suck in my stomach I look some what flat not complete flat after relaxing my stomach I look like I’m 4 month’s pregnant. I had a Consultation with my doctor and he suggested to have another tummy tuck with mesh to help my muscles. But I’m not sure if I want have a mesh on my stomach is there something else that can help my situation.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

There are a few things going on here.

Having a tight flat abdominal wall basically makes a beeline from your sternum to be your pubic bone.  and most people this is a vertical line.

And people who are barrel chested or who is sternum sits significantly in front of their pubic bone the muscle wall tends to be pulled in on the lower abdomen and another way of saying this is the upper abdomen bulging.  for patients who have this barrel chested shape with a quite projecting or forward setting sternum in relationship to the pubic bone it’s sometimes better if the surgeon doesn’t tighten the lower abdomen as much during the procedure.

This could be causing the look you have.

It could also be from excess visceral fat and for that you simply need to lose weight.

It could be a combination of the two.

It’s always a good idea to show before and after pictures even though you’re concerned it’s about the outcome of the procedure. If you should before pictures we would be able to make a more accurate assessment because certain clothes on the before pictures contact us off and why results look the way they do.

If you don’t have before and after pictures then you should ask your provider to forward the ones they took.

Follow up with your provider or consider having a few in person second opinion consultations with other local board-certified plastic surgeons.
