I wanted to fill the vertical lines around my lips, but the RN I went to injected it into my lips. I didn't want bigger lips. All my lines are still there. Not softened AT ALL. Did she put it in the wrong place to accomplish what I wanted??
Answer: Lip Lines / Lines above and below the mouth -- Botox/Dysport/Xeomin/Jeuveau By injecting a small amount of Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, or Jeuveau into this area, the muscles will relax, causing the hard, deeps lines to smooth and improving the lines and wrinkles. Neuromodulators take 2 to 4 weeks to start working and lasts for up to six months. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Vertical lip lines. The vertical lip line injection takes some experience in my opinion. Your first issue is that this should be done by a plastic surgeon who understands this anatomy. An RN is trained to just put product in the lip but often lacks the proper understanding of what is causing lip lines from an anatomic stand point. In my practice, I do all the injections for this reason. The trick is to put the product in a plane that actually softens the blow of the upper vertical lip lines without augmenting the lip itself. There are some patients who don't mind the lip augmentation with this, but there is a specific way to inject this without making your lip and vermilion bigger. Again, please choose wisely in terms of who is injecting you. Perhaps biased in my opinion, I recommend you seek a board certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps. Good luck.Dr Vasisht

Answer: Lip lines Depending on the severity of your lip lines, there are a variety of approaches to treat these lines. If there is alot of crepiness and severity in the lines, laser resurfacing is the best approach. Otherwise, a combination of filler and botox will help to soften the lines. Typically filler in placed directly into the area where the lines are, usually in either a perpendicular or vertical fashion . Additionally, adding a little to the border of the lip can help with the lines close to the vermilion border. It would be best to go in for a consult with an experienced injector to go over the best approach.

Answer: Treatment For Vertical Lip Lines Thank you for your question. Sorry to hear about your experience and that you are having some concerns about your postprocedure appearance. It is difficult to comment without seeing a photograph. In general, vertical lip lines are very challenging to treat. I find that a combination of Botox and fillers works best, typically with filler injection directly into the unwanted creases. Please keep in mind that some swelling and bruising after filler injection is normal, especially in the lips. Icing can help for up to 48 hours after the procedure. It will take 2 weeks to see your final result. In the interim, arnica is beneficial for minimizing any postprocedure swelling and bruising. Beautiful and natural results can be achieved. Please be sure to see an experienced injector for an in-person reevaluation to fully address your concerns and discuss your goals and expectations in order to determine the best treatment plan. Best wishes!
