I am a 34 years old male that had liposuction done on my chest and I have read that I should stay 8 weeks after chest liposuction before doing bodybuilding exercises. what happen if I do bodybuilding exercises after 3 weeks of chest male liposuction ?

I let my patients begin working out 10 days after liposuction.  If it is not painful, there is no reason you cant begin exercising and weight lifting.  But please follow your physicians recommendation.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Great question. Staying away from the gym can be tough but the results are usually worth it. That being said time off from heavy exercise is usually only  2-6 weeks depending on the procedure performed and your surgeons opinion. Liposuction patients can often return to a fairly aggressive exercise routine by about 4 weeks. Going back early can result in minor temporary pain and swelling or might trigger something more serious like bleeding.Give your doctor a call and get their opinion - you'll be back at it before you know it.All the best.

Thanks for the question, we see a lot of bodybuilders and the hardest aspect of surgery with them is taking it easy after surgery. I start to let people work out at three weeks as the risk of bleeding should be minimized at that point but the risks are bleeding and swelling

liposuction.  In general, I like to have my patients wait at least four
full weeks after surgery before engaging in any exercise, and the bodybuilding
you mention sounds strenuous.  I also like my patients to use a
compression garment as well during this time.  Best to discuss directly
with your board certified plastic surgeon before making plans to do

the best person to answer this question is your surgeon. most of them have their own regime to which they adhere to as they might have or had not seen a few complications as per their technique.as such i ask my patients to start heavy exercises after 4 to 6 weeks depending on the extent of liposuction

Body builders can often go back to working out within a few weeks provided that they are healing well. the only thing is, is that they may have more swelling with persistent exercise.

First, I suggest you check in with your surgeon to see what his or her recommendations are.I encourage my patients to get back to normal activity as soon as they are comfortable.I also tell them not to engage in any activity that causes pain after surgery.Most patients are comfortable doing unrestricted exercise three weeks after liposuction.This is very individual-dependent because of individual perceptions, body areas treated and level of aggressiveness of the liposuction treatment.I don't think any of my patients would need to wait as long as eight weeks to do bodybuilding exercises.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.

After chest liposuction I allow patients to do mild chest exercises at 2 weeks.   Let pain be  their guide.  If it hurts back off.   The pain is the guide.  There is nothing that is going to hurt the result.   Waiting 8 weeks makes no sense whatsoever in my humble opinion.   Hope this helps.   My Best,  Dr C
