Why are my grafts so much darker than my native hair?

My grafts have started to shed their hair shafts, but the hairs are very dark, mostly black! My natural hair colour is ash blonde. Is there an explanation for this? There were 2 other guys getting transplants at the clinic at the time with black hair, is it possible that the grafts got mixed up? Surely they would reject right?
