My 8 year old silicone breast implants started making noises on my second day in CO. Is this normal?

I had silicone breast implants about 8 years ago and 3 days ago few to Colorado from Texas. On my second night here I started hearing popping and gurgling sounds , from my chest! While I've been reading this is normal for high altitudes for those that have recently had surgery, I couldn't find anything for ones that were older. I've flown many times in the past and this is the first time I've had this issue. Is this normal??

Hello sleddinggril and thanks for your questions. I have seen this before and it tends to occur when a patient travels from areas of low altitude to areas of high altitudes. I'm not sure what the cause is exactly, but after a few days (of acclimation) it tends to go away. Most likely it has to do with reduced atmospheric pressure. This is likely due to atmospheric pressure changes.  It should normalize in a few days.  If it does not, and you are concerned, please make sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for evaluation.

It is due to a change in atmospheric pressure. Lower pressure means the 'air' expands a little, making itself more' room', and some times causing the sensation of a squishy sound. Depending on how long you are there, you should acclimate, otherwise it will normalize when you go back home.Best.
