Could a capsular tear resolve on it's own? (Photo)

Question

I went to my surgeon due to left implant sitring higher and flat near clevage and tenderness...... he said he thinks its a capsular tear with assosited with capsulatr contracture. Ive to wait 3 months because it could resolve.. i cant find anyone whos had a capsular tear.... does this resolve on its own?

It is impossible to give you good advice without in person evaluation and high definition ultrasound. Waiting 3 months is not going to be too long and you should follow your surgeon’s suggestion. Small deformity can be treated with fat grafting once severe breast implant contracture/rupture is ruled out. Good luck.

Thank you for your question and photo. Without knowing exactly how your conversation went with your surgeon it is difficult to comment on his or her thoughts or recommendations. In addition, 
 without an examination in person it is difficult to properly make any recommendations.

Your photo does not reveal “the problem” and it is critical to understand exactly what your concern and complaints are. Do they include pain, discomfort, asymmetry, firmness, limitation in activity, alteration in sensation?

If you are uncertain about your surgeon’s recommendations please consider an in-person consultation with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who can advise you.

In general, after three weeks from surgery I recommend to my own patients to massage their breasts and their scars, and remind them that it takes at least twelve months for the scars to reach maturity. If a capsular contracture develops, a Cox2 inhibitor may help (medications such as Singulair).

Again, a board certified plastic surgeon second opinion would be your best next step. Best of luck to you.
