Answer: Teenage Gynecomastia Thank you for your question.Up to 2/3 of teenage boys going through #puberty develop #gynecomastia due to surges in testosterone and estrogen levels leading to a #hormone imbalance. In up to 75% of boys who develop pubertal gynecomastia, it will disappear without treatment within 2 years. In 90% of boys with pubertal gynecomastia, it will disappear without treatment within 3 years. If there are no other identifiable medical causes, and hormone levels are normal, then surgery might be recommended if they have had gynecomastia for over two years. Please consult a #boardcertified #plasticsurgeon to decide the best treatment plan for you.

Answer: I am 14 years old and I have had gynecomastia for over 2 years now and I am wondering when the will go away. (Photo) Gynecomastia during puberty is common and often diminishes over time. If it is persistent after puberty, there are many safe and effective surgical treatments available. Talk to you doctor and give it more time for now. Good luck and be safe.John T. Answer: Gynecomastia at age 14 The "party line" is that gynecomastia will resolve after adolesence. In many patients this is simply not the case. I do not have any problem with operating on guys at your age if it is causing significant heart ache and problems. You first need to discuss this with your parents and then perhaps you can get a consultation.

Answer: Gynecomastia Hopefully your gynecomastia will resolve in the nest two to three years. If not then the tissue can be resolved with surgery. Be patient, you will definitely not have to live with this forever. If you have surgery your tissue can be removed with liposuction only or possibly a small counter incision to remove a little fibrotic tissue. The bad scars of long ago are not necessary. Good luck.

Answer: Gynecomastia Be patient you are still young. Your body is just starting to make hormones and over the next few year will stabilize. A very high percentage of teenagers (approximately 65% plus) will have some degree of this. As you age in some cases this will resolve, if not surgery or liposuction or a combination of the two can improve this for you nicely. The scars are small and can be hidden around the areola. Good LuckStephen M. Davis, MD, FACSGreen Hills Plastic Surgery
