This should be considered on a case by case basis. Because IUDs have a hormonal component, removal may be considered to reduce the risk for venous clots. If you have a personal or family history of blood clots or have another medical condition that increases your clotting risk, your PS may recommend that your IUD be removed prior to surgery. Even after its removal, the effects of the IUD can remain in your body. Recommend that you ask your gynecologist if you should remove the IUD before lipo and BBL and when to reinsert after lipo and BBL. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
hello thank you for your question and provided information as well..based on your question, it is not necessary to withdraw your IUD, because in the procedures to which you wish to apply we do not enter a cavity, or our procedure does not influence or affect your health. My recommendation is that you be consulted in person by your certified plastic surgeon and discuss everything concerning the case.
You should not have to remove your IUD before undergoing BBL and liposuction. You can double check with your Gynecologist.
