Which CoolSculpting applicator is best for the flanks? Is it usually 1 or 2 applicator treatments for each side? (Photos)

Thank you for your pictures, this is very helpful. It looks to me that the nurse assessed you for two cycles on each flank, making it four cycles total. You could then repeat this treatment plan in as little as eight weeks, making it eight cycles total. Many patients will repeat their treatment plan in order to achieve optimal results. This is an appropriate plan for you and also very common in the Coolsculpting world. 

Best result is always obtained by small amount of overlap and full coverage of area being treated. If you have any concern make sure to discuss it with your provider. Most often the flanks require minimum of 2 applicators per side if the stubborn area is large enough.

Thank you for the question and helpful photos.  Although in-person exams are much more helpful to assess, it appears from the photos that you would likely need 2 curve applicators per flank (4 total for one session) and then the best results are seen with two treatment sessions spaced ~8 weeks apart.  So you'd be looking at 8 total cycles (4 each session). There's also the possibility that the technician used two colors to indicate 2 separate sessions. Did the practice give you an estimate? That would be most helpful in deciphering the markings.  

Based on the amount of tissue and fat, the flanks can be done as 1-2 applications per side per treatment session. It all depends on how you're shaped and the treatment plan configured specifically for you.  

Good morning Lisa,Thanks for submitting the photos!The type, number and placement of applicators will vary depending on each individual patient, the specifics of which will be determined in the office during your assessment.Specific to your question, it is quite common to use overlapping handpiece placements (at separate sessions) in order to appropriately recruit tissues and treat different curves and high points.Also, it is quite common to need more than one treatment (same location, same applicator) approx 6-8 weeks after the first treatment. That is because the CoolSculpting treatment results in a partial correction after each application.So, in your case, though no conclusion can be made without an in person exam, I think it is likely you would need 2 applications per flank separated by 6-8 weeks. The Max applicator in my experience does not fit your body type, you are not wide enough in my opinion.  Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations. We usually use the Curve applicator for the love handles, and the placement should be planned in person.

Thank you for your question. For most CoolSculpting paitents, the Cool Curve would be used to treat the flanks. This is a highly specialized treatment that is tailored to the needs of each individual. Some will be fine with one applicator per flank. Some will require 2 applicators per side as determined by the line of the bulges. Most all patients will need to treat each area twice for optimal results as each treatment will remove 20-25% of the fat cells. The magic happens after the second treatment. Typically CoolCurve is used for flanks because the shape of the applicator is curved and fits this part of the body well. However, it depends on your shape and size as well. I would recommend making an appointment for a consultation with a certified Coolsculpting provider in your area.

A patient who has less curvature of the flanks may be a candidate for CoolCore, which has less of an arch. It is always best to have an evaluation and have the potential treatment area assessed with the CoolSculpting applicator templates.
