Should I Be Concerned if I Have Thin Red Lines Around my Areola After BA? (photo)

I would return to your plastic surgeon to make sure that you don't have an infection.  If not, you might need to start some massage or scar therapy at this point.

The photograph demonstrates a fairly normal healing periareolar incision. All the issues are related to inflammation that is a natural byproduct of wound healing.

YES! You need to be examined by your surgeon. This could be nothing but IN POERSON examination is required to determine exactly the issue. 

I have seem patients develop these thin red lines around the areola after a breast augmentation. In all cased these resolved spontaneously.  While your are healing you should use a moisturizing lotion on the breast and avoid sun exposure.  

These look like stretch marks, that appear red and therefore more noticeable with the inflammatory phase of wound healing. The incision looks pretty normal for 3 months. Both are highly likely to continue to become less and less noticeable over the course of a year, the time for scar maturation.

Thank you for the question and pictures. Although stretch marks do appear occasionally after breast augmentation surgery, they do tend to fade/lighten over the course of the next several months. You will also likely find that the incision line will continue to fade/improve over the course of the next year and beyond.

 Continue to do what you are doing and follow up with your plastic surgeon on a regular basis.

In time, your concerns will be a thing of the past. The redness will fade. The periareolar scars will also fade and may be difficult to see at all. I tell my patients that it takes at least a year for scars to fully mature. You're only a quarter of the way there. Be patient. You will continue to improve.
