Had 16 units of Xeomin with no results and 4 weeks after I redid it with 20 units of Botox. Experiencing dizziness, advice?

Question

I got 16 units of xeomin that did not work, so I went back after 4 wks and did a redo with 20 units of Botox. I know it is flu season, and I do have a cough with very little congestion, but my additional issue is with dizziness which I have seen is a side effect of both products. Am I crazy? Is all this dizziness from the flu or the injections? I have seen my Dr. and he only found an elevated white blood count. If this is due to the toxins, how long do you think it will last?

First, I am not surprised that you didn't see results with 16 units of Xeomin.  This is barely enough to treat the glabellar area and certainly not the standard dosing that most injectors use.  As for BOTOX or Xeomin causing dizziness, rest assured that these products stay where they are injected and do not cause central nervous system issues.  I would make sure that you are going to an experienced injector and one that will use a sufficient number of units of either product to help you achieve more optimal results. I hope that helps and wish you the very best!-Gregory A Buford MD FACSBoard Certified Plastic SurgeonAllergan MASTER Facial Injectables Trainer

The dizziness combined with cough and congestion with an elevated white blood cell count are probably related to an upper respiratory infection and not he "toxins." I would only be concerned if you had the Botox injected in the neck in which case it could potentially interfere with the swallowing muscles and cause you to aspirate and cough (unlikely).

The stress of getting a treatment injection after one that didn’t work could cause dizziness/ Vaso vagal reaction and headaches....but very unlikely from the neuromodulator itself.
