Carbon dioxide laser (non fractional ) had caused some delayed hypopigmented cases. A special light may help a dermatologist determine if this is hypo or depigmented spots. If it is a total loss of color, then it may not come back. If it is hypopigmented, possibly Fraxel Restore may help as there have been comments from other doctors that it may be beneficial. I have attempted this but not seen improvement yet.
Sorry this is a permanent result that has no treatment correction option. The best way is to camouflage the areas with make up, maybe a light layer of tattooing. From MIAMI Dr. B
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately Hypopigmentation appearing years after Laser Resurfacing is permanent. This is because the Laser, usually a CO2 laser damaged the pigment cells in the skin. Hypopigmentation after Laser Resurfacing is less common with Erbium Fractional Laser Resurfacing.
