It’s been 8 weeks post op tummy tuck and lipo. My belly button seems to be off center. Will it return to the center? . I can see it and it makes me nervous and uncomfortable.
Answer: It Will Not Change Hello, You will need to review preoperative photos of your belly button position with your surgeon. It is surprising how common it is to have a non-midline belly button. Best of luck!

Answer: Belly button Hi rocstar84, Thank you for your question and attached photos. I agree with my colleagues, that preoperative photos would be helpful. Very few people have a belly button that is exactly in the center and some are more off center than others. Certainly these issues can be disturbing, but as you continue to heal, it will become less and less noticeable. I hope that helps. Best, Dr. B

Answer: CENTERED BELLY BUTTON As you have only 8 weeks from the surgery, you still have some swelling and that can make the abdomen area look more asymetrical, it is important to wait for the swelling to go away and the scar tissue to get soft, that takes about 6 months, then it will be a good time to reeavaluate your abdomen, to check the belly button position and also the scar position that can affect the way your tummy looks.

Answer: TT results Dear rockstar84,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a tummy tuck surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 8 weeks post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides, you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: It is normal not to have your belly button perfectly in the midline as was determined by a study and I know my own belly button is off center (no tuck yet). That isn't an excuse but just stating some facts. When lining up belly buttons with tummy tucks, if there is any curvature to your spine, that will impact the appearances. The lower midline is determined by the extension of your cleft upwards and sometimes those can be to the side and not perfectly centered. But at this point, there isn't much to do besides focus on healing, listening to your surgeon instructions, and hopefully things may improve to your satisfaction. If it does not, your surgeon should be open to your critique and to provide you options on how to achieve what you desire.
