Question

Will my smile return to normal? I had sliding genioplasty and fat transfer to my cheeks 2 weeks and 2 days ago. I am still numb on my chin and the incision inside my mouth can still be painful at times. I still can’t bite into an apple if that gives an idea of where I’m at in my healing. Im worried. Also, i feel as though too much fat was placed in my cheeks...

It is too soon to judge about the good or bad part of your surgery. You should give it more time. Whatever does not look right could be corrected by your surgeon or another surgeon who has experience in this area. Excess fat can be removed also.

The excessive fullness may come from swelling, which will resolve as you move forward to your recovery.  In addition, some of the fat grafts will become resorbed over the next few weeks, leading to more natural results. Meanwhile, numbness and residual pain may persist for weeks, depending on the patient's healing.  However, these symptoms are supposed to improve week by week.Good luck and best wishes.
