Breast implants and Crohn's disease?

Given that the Chrohn's disease is well-controlled, elective breast surgery is not necessarily contraindicated.  I would suggest that you communicate your goals with your gastrointestinal physician who knows you best. He/she, will be able to evaluate your “risk profile” much better than online consultants will be able to do. Then, your gastrointestinal physician will be able to communicate with your chosen plastic surgeon in regards to optimal timing of the breast augmentation surgery; perioperative management of specific medications may also be part of this communication. There is no specific contraindication for you to have a breast augmentation. Sometimes the medications that patient's with autoimmune disease take slow down the healing process. This may need to be addressed but typically they would not concern me for a straight forward augmentation. Certainly you need to discuss this with your surgeon (who should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery) and your GI physician prior to proceeding.
