I am considering breast augmentation, and have Crohn's disease. Is there anything I should be concerned with, like a higher risk of scar tissue forming, or implant rejection? I have been in remission for about 10 years and currently on no medications, healthy. There is not much info out there about this topic. Thank you.

Answer: Breast augmentation and Crohn's disease Thanks for your question. There shouldn't be a problem with Crohn's disease that is in remission and a breast augmentation. Crohn's disease should not impact healing of the skin of the breast. The issues with Crohn's disease involve the intestinal tract. The best thing to do is to consult with a plastic surgeon who is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Best of luck.

Answer: Crohns and BBA If you are disease free and on no meds there is unlikely to be any contraindication for surgery. Best to discuss your concerns with your PS during a consultation. Currently there is no evidence to suggest that a BBA will lead to any flare ups.
