Why does my belly feel heavy when I lay down. Why do I have a burning sensation when I wake, how long will this last? (photo)

The inflammatory phase last approximately 6 weeks.  Inflammation is asscociated with swelling.  The level of dissection of the skin flap is at the level of the lymphatics (channels that drain tissue fluid into the circulation) and this also contributes to swelling or a heavy feeling.  The heavy feeling can persist for several weeks but will resolve.  Another cause for heaviness is a seroma (fluid accumulation).  A seroma would persist.  From your description you do not have a seroma.  Intermittent burning sensation is associated with nerve pain.  This is to be expected and will resolve over several weeks.  It may be 6 weeks before you can sleep comfortably.  If you are sleep deprived a short course of a night time sedative for sleep may be helpful until normal sleep resumes.
