Given that your symptoms did not improve as much on the left side, I would likely advise either reapplication of the Botox to ensure proper placement or increasing the dose on that side. It is likely that your left masseter is more active than the right and may need a higher dose to achieve similar effect as the right. With time and proper dosing and placement, the asymmetry can even out.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen this just once in a very thin client whose Botox appeared to have migrated into the smile muscle above the masseter. Injecting the depressor angular oris muscle on the left could offset this slightly. Your cheek muscle atrophy could have occurred by migration of Botox to those muscles as well. Try exercising the affected muscles. Please let us know how you are now.

Seems like you are missing the point of receiving masseter injections. These should only be done after a thorough dental exam to find the underlying cause of the asymmetry and pain.All massager pain is associated with the teeth and there positioning in the jaw. This is not a cosmetic procedure. These injections should be done coinciding with dental treatment to find the root cause. If the cause is not treated, the Botox will never be totally effective alone.

Botox effects are temporary, typically lasting three to four months. If you still have not noticed improvement by six months the differences are likely no longer a result of Botox. Although we are all asymmetrical to some degree this asymmetry can be impacted by a number of factors. Some include weight loss/gain, side you sleep on, and normal aging. You also mentioned that you clench which could impact the muscle.

All people have facial asymmetry from normal bony anatomy. Botox usually works for only 3 months, but in some rare patients it may have effects for 6-9 months. I feel that the Botox effects should be gone within the next 4 months and you may re-assess your facial features. If still off, I highly doubt it was from the single Botox treatment.
You may consider another Botox treatment to the Left side if this side is still larger and the muscle is more active.
