A chin implant is performed for patients who have a receding chin. The implant normally gives anterior projection to the chin and jawline but also gives some added width and vertical height, since it is a three-dimensional implant. Chin implants do come in a variety of sizes and shapes depending upon what is trying to be accomplished for the patient. The implants are composed of Silastic, are inserted through a submental incision under local anesthesia as an outpatient surgical procedure. Please see our photo gallery link below for examples of what can be accomplished with a chin implant.
A chin implant will usually make a very nice, noticeable improvement in lower lip contour. The implant supports the lower lip more naturally and makes it roll in and become more vertical, which looks more relaxed and attractive. From the photos provided, the chin is very weak. Chin Augmentation with a Chin Implant would balance the lower face and yes, it does create a deeper (weak chin's have no groove) mento-labial groove that aesthetically should be at least 5mm's.
You do appear to be a good candidate for a chin augmentation. You also do have lips that are on the larger end of the spectrum. Lip size is really a matter of personal preference and some people prefer having larger lips. I would recommend having the chin augmentation procedure...
It sounds like your treating doctor is concerned that your husband is a risk for developing an infection. It sounds like you are in good hands as he has placed your husband on antibiotics and has been following up with your husband regularly. Your doctor and your husband should watch...
Thank you for the question. Yes, that is an important distinction to make between those two types of implants. The pre-jowl implant is a good implant but really will not give you much projection of the chin. Based on your photographs if you would like to make a change that is nice and...
