It sounds like your treating doctor is concerned that your husband is a risk for developing an infection.  It sounds like you are in good hands as he has placed your husband on antibiotics and has been following up with your husband regularly.  Your doctor and your husband should watch for signs of an infection:

1)  Pus draining from wound

2)  Redness

3)  Warmth

4)  Increased pain

Straw draining fluid is not a sign of infection.  I would continue to watch the area and follow up with your doctor.  

This is a normal color of fluid drainage 7 days after surgery. Initially fluid is red, then pinkish, followed by yellowish color (serous). I would recommend not listening to anyone here and following up with your surgeon. He knows best what to do with the drain.

Yellow color is a bit disturbing and might be addressed by removal of the implant. A straw color of the drainage is more encouraging for a continued conservative approach.
