Injectable fillers for midface hypoplasia/flat cheekbones? Can I get cheek implants later?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Fat transfer is a very good, long lasting way to augment the cheeks, lips, jaw line and other areas to balance a large lower jaw. Fillers will work, but it may take a lot of filler to create good balance. Fat may be less expensive and longer lasting. Cheek implants can be placed if desired after fat transfer or fillers have partially or completely disappeared.

Is there any injections to decrease size of nose ?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
No, there is no injection that will decrease the size of a nose or any other facial structure. However, if very flat cheeks or thin lips make the nose look larger than it really is, fat or filler injections into the cheeks or lips may make the nose look smaller by comparison.

Is a chin augmentation/implant right for me? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Chin implants are the simplest surgical procedures for augmenting a small chin.  They are very effective for advancing the chin prominence, however they cannot shorten or lengthen a chin. In your case it appears that your chin needs to be shortened. It looks like you are forcing your lips together, making you look very serious and angry. If you relax your lower lip, I think you will see that there is a large gap between your upper and lower lips. Therefore, shortening your chin and sliding it forward with a bony sliding genioplasty would provide the best cosmetic improvement.  It will give you the stronger chin that you want and it will relax your lower lip to make you look happier.

Chin implant or Genioplasty? I have a small chin and I think it needs to be wider, but I need advice. (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
A narrow tapered chin can make it appear that you have jowls, and it may not harmonize with the rest of your facial contours.  A chin implant can advance the chin and it can also widen the chin. By carving chin implants made from solid silicone they can be adjusted to get the desired relationship between advancement and widening. So they are a good way to manage the problem. If only widening is needed, special solid "prejowl" chin implants are available that will widen the chin without increasing the prominence of the chin. They work very well.
A bony genioplasty involves cutting the bottom of the chin bone and moving the mobile piece forward, or up, or down to create the desired appearance. The bone can be cut in the middle and spread out to increase the width of the chin if necessary. This is a more complex procedure than an implant and will produce more soreness and swelling. It is the best procedure if shortening or lengthening of the chin is needed in addition to widening.

I'm 40 year old woman who wants to get fillers for my under eyes. Which filler works best with African American skin? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
All fillers work well with African American skin, and all skin types. Some fillers are thicker, more viscous, than others. The thicker fillers, like Radiesse, have the benefit of lasting longer, and staying in place better, than thinner fillers like Restylane.  However, they require more injector experience and care for filling under the eyes than thinner fillers. The thinner the skin is under the eyes the more it helps to use a thinner filler to help prevent irregularities.
The key to the best results under the eyes is to inject the filler very smoothly just below where the eyelid meets the cheekbone, and to inject it as deeply against the bone as possible. All fillers will work well here, some just last longer than others.

What do Botox injections in lips do?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Botox, and similar muscle relaxers, can be injected into the skin at the edges of the upper and lower lips to reduce vertical lip lines, raise the corners of the mouth, and create a slightly improved lip contour in some people.

For a pouty look, filler is usually the best treatment. It can be injected into the lip to increase fullness and increase the amount of "pink" showing. It can also be injected under the skin along the edge of the lips for a subtle increase in fullness and a more dramatic pout. Injection at the corners of the mouth, filler can lift the corners of the mouth for a happier look.

Would filler at zygomatic arch or upper cheeks take care of these dynamic wrinkles? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Facial lines that occur when smiling, known as dynamic lines, are usually best treated with Botox or similar muscle relaxing product.  Fillers are usually chosen to treat passive lines, those that occur at rest. In some situations a combination of filler and a muscle relaxer, like Botox, will provide the best results. The treatment selected will depend upon the exact nature of the lines, whether they occur at rest or when smiling, and the degree of improvement desired by the patient. In some cases trying to eliminate deep lines resulting from very loose skin will result in distortion of the area, so surgery may be a better choice to reduce the lines appropriately.

Chin implant with wisdom teeth extraction.

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
It does not make any difference whether the implant is placed at the time of wisdom tooth removal or at a separate surgery. However, if you do it at the time of wisdom tooth removal you will only be sore once, not twice.

There is a higher chance of infection when a chin implant is inserted through the mouth rather than from under the chin. If you do get an infection, the implant will probably need to be removed and replaced after the infection has healed.

Stabilizing the implant with a screw is the best way to prevent movement of the implant, which is common when a screw is not used.  There are no problems with the screw. It will be there as long as the implant.

Oral surgeons are much more familiar with working inside the mouth than other specialists, so if you choose to have it placed through the mouth, an oral surgeon is probably your best choice.

How much does mouth injection cost?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Botox or Xeomin can relax the muscles that pull the corners of the mouth down excessively.  Usually about 8 units are required, for a fee of about $100. The effect usually lasts about three to five months.

Filler to augment the lips has a wide range of fees depending upon the amount of filler, the brand, and the area of the country. An average fee would be about $600.

To elevate the corners of the mouth you will typically need a facelift. Cheek implants probably will not do enough.

How can I fix my philtrum which is too long and my upper lip which has a strange shape? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
The shape of your philtrum and upper lip are strongly influenced by the prominence and size of your nose. Either your nose is a little large or your upper jaw is a little small from front to back.  Either issue changes the angle between the columella (the ridge of skin in the middle of your nostrils)and the upper lip. The bottom of the columella is supported by a projection of bone above the upper front teeth. In your case this projection creates an obtuse angle, rather than an acute angle, between the columella and the upper lip.

Men should have an angle of about 85 to 95 degrees between the columella and the lip. In woman this angle is about 95 to 110. Your angle is about 105 + degrees so it looks a little more feminine. A rhinoplasty is about the only procedure that will improve that problem..

Horrible Results - My skin is now worse - Dallas, TX

I wanted skin resurfacing and a chin implant . My skin is now worse and instead of an implant I was told to get liposuction . My chin is worse as well ! Uneven and looks older with fat removed . When I complained the dr had the nerve to say I looked better . The laser left me with what looks like knife cuts on my nose and more scars then before . This dr is a dentist . Do not use him ! He even charges more money . I paid to look deformed and old!
