A “muscle repair” or diastasis recti repair can likely be performed as well, though it may not be as complete of a repair as what can be done with a traditional abdominoplasty.

Large umbilical hernias would be potentially challenging to repair through a smaller 'mini' tummy tuck approach. Muscle repairs may be performed during a mini-abdominoplasty, however, if you have significant rectus diastasis above the umbilicus, a mini-abdominoplasty would not allow this to be repaired. Removal of the mesh placed 16 years ago would be very difficult and bloody procedure with a risk of infection, in particular if you are pregnant. If it is not causing any problems it may be best to leave it in place through the pregnancy and address the problem if it arises. Good luck.

If your liposuction surgeon was an experienced surgeon it is very unlikely the liposuction procedure caused your umbilical hernia. The umbilicus is a very common area to hide lipo incision as well as being a common area for hernias. It is more likely just a coincidence
