Pregnancy after unnecessarily large hernia repair

Around 16 years ago I had a diastasis recti hernia repaired. The doctor said it was relatively small but he put the wire mesh “just to be safe”. Well I’m now pregnant, and an MRI showed my wire mesh is from rib to hip across my ENTIRE abdomen. I’m not sure why? How concerning is this revelation? We just moved and I’m waiting to see a new doctor but at our previous residence no local doctor had an answer for how concerned I should be. Do I need/have options?

It is very likely that all these abdominal wall weakness/hernias can be treated in the same time. Addition of procedures like liposuction or a abdominoplasty is possible but needs to be discussed with your surgeon(s). Good luck.
