Who should do what part of transplant?

Is it typical that the technicians do ARTAS harvesting as well as placing grafts? The response I got from Dr was Dr does “design and numbing of head”. Seems to me techs do the transplant.

A hair transplant procedure should be done by a surgeon who specializes only in hair. They can be assisted by assistants and technicians but these techs should not be doing the majority of your surgery. Usually with clinics that use an ARTAS the technicians are the ones using the machine and performing the surgery which is unethical and against standard of care in regards to hair restoration surgery. I think you should also be aware that an ARTAS generally uses a larger punch size than what a skilled surgeon would use which may lead to a damaged donor zone and noticeable scarring. In my experience it generally can cause trauma to the grafts which may lead to a lower survival rate. In my opinion it can be an inferior option compared to what can be done by experienced reputable hair transplant surgeons. Make sure that you consult with physicians who oversee and participate in the entirety of the procedure, perform only 1 surgery per day, and regularly perform both FUE and FUT to give you an unbiased recommendation. The ARTAS hair transplant harvesting should be done by a physician. Site design, aka recipient site making, is also best done by hand by a physician, as often the robotic patterns are a little too formulaic and less artistic than what can be manually achieved. Graft quality control under microscopes, sorting, and graft placement are classically done by technicians.
