Are hair transplants during pregnancy safe?

Question

I'm currently trying to conceive, and also hoping to have a hair transplant in the next couple of months. I'm going to schedule consultations for the hair transplant, but just curious if it would be safe to have the hair transplant while pregnant or trying. Based on similar before & after pictures online, it might be 2000 grafts (not sure if it matters). The bald patch isn't likely to change in pregnancy. I've never had a bad reaction to anesthetic and have no allergies

In my professional opinion undergoing a hair transplant while pregnant is generally not recommended. The procedure typically involves the use of local anesthesia and medication which may not be safe for you or your developing baby. Additionally, the physical and emotional stress of surgery can be significant and is best avoided during pregnancy since this is an elective procedure anyways. It is also important to consider that hormonal changes during and after pregnancy can affect hair growth and shedding patterns. Some women can experience significant hair shedding postpartum, a condition known as telogen effluvium. Waiting until your hormones have stabilized post-pregnancy can give a more accurate assessment of your hair restoration needs.

Generally, elective procedures should be avoided during pregnancy. The anesthesia associated with hair transplant would be an unnecessary risk to a pregnant women and baby. Also, it is important to know that telogen effluvium shedding after delivery should be fully resolved before a hair transplant is approached.
