I recently upsized breast implants from 360cc to 560cc. I immediately regret this decision, they are way too big and heavy and not worth the future risks/complications. I would like to downsize back to 360-400cc. Is this possible? How long do I have to wait in between surgeries to have another revision? If I get it done as soon as I am able to, will my skin likely snap back faster since I would not keep the large implants in for long? Thank you in advance
Answer: Rapid downsize Unfortunately, your doctor likely 'opened the pocket' to accommodate the larger implant dimensions, leaving that portion of the pocket without capsule. If that is the case, you should wait 3 months from surgery so that your body can form new capsular tissue; this will allow the surgeon to close is back down and create a smaller pocket. Does that make sense?

Answer: Downsizing implants Dear user162626, you can wait to see the final results. But if you are sure that you don't like the size, you can get exchange earlier. Breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals. Answer: Size Yes, you can downsize and may need the lateral pockets tightened internally. I would suggest waiting at least 6 weeks to let the incisions heal enough. Please discuss this with your surgeon.

Answer: More information needed Yes, a 3rd augmentation can be done to reduce implant size. As you have said, the sooner the better. However, you have not stated how long it has been since the last surgery. You may need a breast lift. Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs or told us your bra size. I would need more information to give you an accurate answer. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Breast implant revision It is possible to downsize and you don't have to wait for revision if you don't have any additional health issues. Actually it would be easier to downsize it earlier considering the skin laxity. If the procedure causes loose breast skin that might sag over the time, then you might need a breast lift as well to control the skin laxity.
