Can Volbella change my lip shape forever?

Question

I’m so scared that my lip shape is changed forever with Volbella. I have no cupid’s bow now. I had it injected once and dissolved. The doctor who dissolved told me it could permanently change because of scar tissue but I could create cupid’s bow with filler. I’m so depressed. I’ve been left with just round lips. I don’t want to do filler again. Could one treatment of volbella have really altered my lip shape forever?

No, once the filler is resolved, your lips will go back to their natural shape. Keep in mind, it can take a series of treatments to dissolve filler. There may be some swelling after hyaluronidase which will resolve in 1-2 weeks. Best, Dr. Emer

Volbella is a natural HA product  which is self limiting. It will dissolve after 12 months at the most. More importantly hyaluronidase should completely dissolve the Volbella and should not leave any scarring. If you still feel product in your lips you should have more hyaluronidase placed. Feel assured though that the dissolving agent will not scar your lips.

Hi Miss Illinois,
I am a former pageant girl myself, so I feel your pain.  I seriously doubt one treatment of volbella and hyaluronidase would cause any scarring--much less enough to permanently change your lip shape.  Is there something else going on that would cause scar tissue?  Hyaluronidse dissolves hyaluronic acid, it does not cause scar tissue to form unless there is an infection/inflammation or something else going on at the same time.  
You can definitely accent the cupids bow and philtral columns with a filler.  I'd try belotero or versa on you just to make make sure you are not reacting to the vicross technology used to make volbella.  Give it one more shot--I bet you'd like it!
