I am wondering what treatment can be safely done for a small blue vein underneath my eye that bulges when I smile?
Answer: Choosing between different varicose vein and spider vein treatments It’s important to distinguish between varicose veins and spider veins when choosing between laser therapy, sclerotherapy, and vein surgery. With two board certified vein specialists, our center uses a combination of visual examination, functional flow measurements, ultrasound, transillumination, and infrared light to map out vein networks prior to therapy. Lasers can be used to treat deep varicose vein insufficiency, vein perforators, and varicose veins. Sclerotherapy is ideal for spider veins and reticular veins. Whereas surgery is reserved for severely incompetent varicose vein segments. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Treatment of blue veins under eyes. I have successfully treated many blue veins under the eyes, such as those shown in your pictures, with lasers. The Gemini laser (1064 nm wavelength) and the long-pulsed Nd YAG laser (also 1064 nm) have been very effective in my hands. It can take two treatments 6 -8 weeks apart. I recommend consulting with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist with extensive experience with laser treatments, including blue veins under the eyes, before having any surgical procedure which has a greater potential for leaving a scar. You will definitely be able to find excellent dermatologists with the necessary expertise in Chicago.
