Do I have to stop taking Adderall for my fat grafting procedure?

I am planning to get breast augmentation via fat grafting. I currently take 5-10mg of IR Adderall for my ADHD which I need to take for school about 5-6 day per week. Will the adderall affect the general anesthesia or fat retainment from the procedure?

This may matter in relation to your overall health and is better properly evaluated by your surgeon and anesthesiologist. Request that your board certified plastic surgeon discuss with his/her board certified anesthesiologist your concern of stopping your on-going and long-term use of the Adderall during and after surgery. The Adderall should not affect the fat survival.

Yes, you will need to be off Adderall for about 1 week prior to surgery for safety for the surgery and general anesthesia. Adderall is an "upper" and can interfere with your blood pressure. It has nothing to do with fat retention.

Taking Adderall for surgery should not be a problem. If you have not yet had a consultation then I suggest doing so and disclosing your full medical history. If you’ve already had a consultation and did not disclose your medications then contact your plastic surgeon and let them know the medications you take.
