Stage 1 is usually the first 1-3 days and ends when the drainage from the lipo incisions ceases. Afterwards, you can switch to phase. Alternately, you can start with a phase 2 garment and apply a binder over the area during phase 1. Foam is not routine and can cause skin blistering on sensitive skin or if improperly applied. Undergarment pads are a better idea. All of this should be accompanied by a routine of frequent professional lipo massage.

Hi! I have my immediate post op patients wear compression for 72 hours before taking it off. After that 24/7 for 3 weeks, taking off to shower and wash the garment. If you have additional questions I would check with your surgeon. Best of luck to you!
