Should I get a second tummy tuck? (Photo)

Question

My stomach was only flat for 5 weeks after my tummy tuck, after that I've been really tight like I'm gonna pop. I've been to my surgeon several times about this and he only took a look at it and said nothing is wrong. I wake up kinda flat and as soon as I'm out of bed my belly blows up.I visited my primary doctor and he did a physical and said it has to be connected to the surgery. I haven't gained any weight after surgery. What do I do? I need help please

My first thought would be to exclude fluid collection (late seroma) between skin and abdominal muscle? If seroma is ruled out I would suggest lymphatic drainage, manual first and vacuum assisted to follow. Good luck.

There are many potential reasons but it does sound as if you have a visceral or intraabdominal component. Are you back to your regular diet? Probiotic supplements may help. Abdominal core compression exercise regimens may also help to flatten. Were your muscles repaired with permanent or absorbable sutures? Are you doing manual lymphatic drainage or dry brushing to help with skin drainage?

Episodes of swelling are common after tummy tucks. Continue to see your plastic surgeon and give it at least 6 months to see the final result.

I am not sure how far out you are from surgery. I would talk to your surgeon about proper timing, but at this point in and your recovery your muscles may have become soft and lose. I would suggest you retone your muscles with appropriate abdominal exercises and see if that will improve your muscle tone and flatness. To get the maximum benefit of a tummy tuck muscles need to be toned. Your surgeon will instruct you on the correct time to begin exercise. Best wishes,Dr. Marcus Peterson
