I had FUE procedure about 2 weeks ago I'm experiencing lots of itching in my donor area and would like to disinfect the donor area the doctor advised me to use aloe vera on the donor area I noticed I'm getting some red bumps and I hope that it's not folliclitis i showed picture to my doctor but he said it was normal can I use rubbing alcohol to disinfect the donor area and maybe apply a antibacterial cream as well as the aloe vera can someone recommend a good antiseptic to clean my donor area
Answer: Donor Area Greetings,The donor area after FUE, whether by hand or ARTAS, takes some time to heal. Most patients heal atraumatically over a period of weeks. As your hairs begin to grow, the donor area becomes harder to see. Daily washes with mild soap can help keep the donor area clean. If scabs form, mild soap and water can be helpful. We use PRP in the donor area to facilitate healing as well. Best, Anil Shah

Answer: Alcohol on the scalp An antibacterial soap would be the best disinfectant that you can use on your scalp. Immediately before and after surgery, I recommend that my patients use antibacterial soap to wash. After about a few days, I have them switch to regular shampoo and wash daily. Showering will help with the scalp itching. I would not recommend using alcohol on the donor or recipient area. I would follow up with your surgeon and follow their instructions carefully.

Answer: Can I use Rubbing Alcohol to disinfect Donor area after FUE? Do not use rubbing alcohol. This will irritate the tissues and make things worse. An antibacterial soap should help. Antibiotic ointments can also be helpful but it is possible to develop allergies to them with continued use. If the red bumps do not resolve in a few days, go see your surgeon in person.

Answer: Can I use Rubbing Alcohol to disinfect Donor area after FUE? Any good shampoo with conditioner will work best for donor and recipient areas. Alcohol and anti-bacterial are more likely to cause additional problems then shampoo with conditioner. If problems come up, let your doctor know what is going on as soon as you're concerned.
