What would happen if PRF tear trough injection was accidentally injected in an eye vein or artery?

I’m looking into this procedure but want to see what the complications would be if something went wrong. Looked into ha fillers but I feel the complications are too scary to consider it. Hoping PRF will be a safer option?

The nice thing about PRP is that it is basically the same blood components that came from your blood vessels in the first place, so the risk of an adverse reaction is much less than with fillers. However, if the blood has started to clot as it is being injected and it is inadvertently injected into a vessel, the clot can block off blood flow or travel through the vessel just like a filler. This is why, the skill and experience of the injector is so much more important than the choice of product that is being used. Ask the injector what their protocol is if such an accident were to happen. If they don't have an answer or if they tell you it can't happen, stop and go to someone who knows what they are doing.

Hi @Dynamic8906! PRP injections are one of the safer undereye injections to get, but no aesthetic procedure is without risk. It is incredibly rare, but as with filler — or any undereye injectable — if administered incorrectly, PRP injections can cause blindness, infection, or internal bleeding, to name a few adverse effects. PRP and PRF are you own blood components and they have fluid, the chance of issues if injected to artery is minimal if any.  However, they do not work to give improvement in tear trough in my opinion.  Best, Dr. Emer.
