I can feel either the bones or bumps on the upper bridge and upper sides of my nose, but I can't see the bumps, they're not visible. Is it normal to be able to feel something in this location of the nose, is it just the normal bones and anatomy of the nose? I haven't had surgery to my nose and I don't remember any trauma or injury to my nose. Is it normal to feel bumps or bones in the upper bridge and upper sides of the nose, to the side of the bridge, of the nose?
Answer: Bumps on Nose Yes, it can be completely normal to feel bumps on the side of the nose, especially the upper portion of the nose. They can be more prominent in certain patients. Sometimes these come about because of previous trauma and/or surgery. Sometimes, this is simply the natural configuration of your nose. As long as they do not bother you, then you should be just fine! Hope this answers you question.

Answer: Is it normal to feel a bump on the upper bridge of the nose and upper sides of nose, but can't see the bumps, not visible? This is very common. Especially in thicker skinned people there can be many irregularities that can be felt under the surface but not seen externally. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Is it normal to feel a bump on the upper bridge of the nose and upper sides of nose, but can't see the bumps, not visible? It is common to feel irregularities of the underlying bone and cartilage and not see them.If it concerns you, I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon with extensive nasal surgery experience who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (ENT) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: The bumpy nose Yes, it is normal to feel bumps on the nose, even if they are not visible. Few people have perfectly smooth bones, and in particular the junction from the bones to the cartilage is always palpable. The cartilaginous parts of the nose normally have edges that one can feel, rather than being perfectly rounded. Many rhinoplasty patients will first start really feeling their nose as they are healing and start feeling "bumps" they never previously noticed, but were always present and normal. The most important things are the function of the nose (ability to breathe, smell, etc.) and the visible appearance.
