Even if you are extremely careful, you will still be exposed to some level of sun on your trip. If you are dedicated to the treatments, book them now or even pre-pay them for when you get back from your trip. Wait two weeks after sun exposure to begin your treatment to let your tan subside.

do not get sun exposure immediately after treatment but when you do go back into sun stay protected. continue with peels, lasers and skin care after or with your IPL.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I would recommend that you wait until after your Mexico trip to do your IPL.  Even if you are very careful, it is likely that you will get some sun exposure while there.  If you do the IPL after you get back, you will have the chance to minimize any damage that does happen.If you do decide to get the IPL before your trip, then be extra diligent about hat, sunglasses and using a good, physical block sunscreen (I like Elta MD).  Be sure to reapply the sunscreen frequently.Whatever you decide, have fun!
