Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Unfortunately, there is a good chance that it WILL grow bigger. This is due to the same reason why keloids are formed in the first place. If you're prone to keloids, when the skin is injured, in the process of healing itself, the skin overcompensates for the injury by producing too much collagen. The result is the raised scar known as a keloid. Since you do already have a keloid scar, it means you're prone to developing them. The new injury will likely trigger more collagen production and, consequently, keloid growth in size.
In our office, we usually begin patients with Melarase creams if they have noticeable dark scars. If the scars are dermal, then light chemical peels in the office may help expedite the process. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
The bulge that you see around the C-section scar may be excess fat that can be removed with some liposuction and surgical subcision of your scar. Laser resurfacing may also help scar texture. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
