I prefer to use an abdominal binder immediately after surgery for a tummy tuck, and my patients usually switch into a faja 1-2 weeks after surgery, after the drains are out. My only word of caution would be regarding using an abdominal binder after a tummy tuck AND lipo to the abdomen and flanks at the SAME time. The liposuction already compromises the blood flow to the incision, and that combined with a tight abdominal binder can cause death of the skin and major healing problems. It thankfully has never happened to me because I avoid binders in these type of cases. I have seen it happen to other surgeons, and it can be a distressing and difficult complication. Hope this information helps.
Speak with your surgeon about their specific recommendations. After a tummy tuck with liposuction I use a binder for the first week. I then have my patients wear a garment for an additional two weeks. They can then wear something that's more comfortable, like Spanx, for the next three weeks. At the six week mark they are done with compression.
Some surgeons do not use garments, and others recommend them. I prefer a compression garment rather than a binder for lipo.
I put my patients in compression and binder right after surgery. I do a great number of #weightloss patients therefore their #tummytuck includes a #monsplasty. This area swells and requires compression from day 1
Most patients benefit from a binder initially after surgery because it is adjustable and helps support the abdomen after tummy tuck. Also, if you have drains placed and wear a compression garment, it would press the drains into your skin and cause pain. Once the drains come out, then I typically switch my patients from a binder to a compression garment. Ask your PS for details.
The swelling of your feet could be a normal result of surgery. Elevating your feet and watching increased salt intake may help. However, you will want to notify your surgeon about what you are experiencing so pulmonary embolism can be ruled out.
Hi, Thank you for your post. It is hard to tell if you have muscle laxity from your picture. It might be easier to tell if you have a front view. It appears that you may benefit from liposuction along with a tummy tuck which will help to contour your body. A board certified plastic surgeon...
Recommend that you address the fibroid issue with your gynecologist prior to scheduling a TT. I make the scar as low as possible so that it can be concealed by a bikini. The small vertical scar is very, very rarely necessary, but this depends upon the aggressiveness of undermining and re...
Generally, body contouring should not be performed on someone with a BMI over 40. There are exceptions for when the patient has a symptomatic panniculus - the overhanging skin and fat of the abdomen that can cause irritation, infection, and impediment to mobility. The criteria for...
The absolute platelet count (in your case elevated) is of interest as is the quality of your platelet function. Obtaining a medical clearance from your hematologist will be important since tummy tucks are associated with a somewhat higher risk of blood clots. At the least, early ambulation a...
Have no concern over the fact that a rectus repair was performed during your C section. Sounds like your doctor was trying to help you. If necessary the repair can be tightened when you do undergo your tummy tuck. This will probably be desirable since the repair probably didn't include the up...
