My surgeon only provides a compression binder after his BBL surgery, but I see numerous doctors and patients using a faja after a bbl. In theory, I like the idea of the binder because it guarantees no pressure on the butt, unlike a poorly fitting faja. But since the faja is so popular, there must be some evidence of its effectiveness over a binder. Can a doctor please confirm if this is true?
Answer: Is a faja better for BBL results over a tummy compression binder for the typical BBL patient? The PS you have selected to perform your BBL, and lipo should provide you with post operative instructions, one of which will be the type of compression garment and length of wear. Based upon his/her experience not all PSs recommend a compression garment as each patient is unique. Our office provides our BBL patients with an adjustable compression garment manufactured by Clear Point. The patients like the support it provides to the back and to the abdomen. The only complaint I have heard is related to the "itchiness" of the fabric which can be remedied by wearing a soft t-shirt under the garment. The patients who tend to have healing issues with larger volume liposuction procedures tend to be the ones who do not wear the compression garments at all, wear them very inconsistently, or do not wear them snugly covering all areas of liposuction. I prefer adjustable garments with multiple bands so that tension can be adjusted. The key here is the size and the ability to tighten the garment, not the brand or make.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear TOUDA618, I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. They can sleep on their stomachs or sides. Fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. It has to be placed carefully so that not too much fat is placed in only one area. But every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Answer: Is a faja better for BBL results over a tummy compression binder for the typical BBL patient? Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. Every doctor has their preferences in regards to compression garments. I suggest my patients use a full body compression garment (that closes with clips), 24/7 for the first 3 months, and after that, for 12 hours a day for 3 more months, to get the best results. It is important for the compression garment to be very tight, for it to help with the swelling, after surgery, and to use it with a cotton t-shirt underneath to avoid garment burns. Please, follow up close with your plastic surgeon. Good luck :)

Answer: Compression after BBL There is zero scientific evidence that using compression garments has any impact on Liposuction or fat transfer results. In my opinion they had nothing to the results and I’m not all that important at all. You should follow your doctor‘s recommendations. Not following your doctor’s recommendations in regards to postoperative care is a good way to have something go wrong. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
