What is the difference between the internal and external nasal valves?

Noriko Tanaka
It seems the terms internal and external valve are often used differently by different surgeons, some will describe the external valve as the outer rim of the nostril while others describe it as the point where the lower lateral cartilage meets the upper lateral, others would describe this junction as the INTERNAL valve. Is there a correct definition or is it ambiguous and more dependent on individual anatomy?
