I have consulted 3 drs, first 2 recommended an extended chin implant because the button implant is unstable and would cause problems in the long term, assured me I would not look manly but more natural with it. The other recommended a button implant because the extended chin implant usually make women look boxier and more broad from the front. I'm Asian with petite features and I would like a slightly pointy chin to complement my oval shaped face.

Answer: Which chin implant suits women? Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years. In my experience and humble opinion, the EAC (extended anatomical silastic implant) offers far more of an aesthetic, natural and effective result than the other available shaped chin implants. Non smiling photos of your face from the front and side would help in the evaluation but typically I find a size Small EAC the best for women, especially petite women. The button style is a very old chin implant design and one of the first available. Back in the 1980's we referred to the results of this implant as creating a "pharos chin" which did not appear natural or attractive, especially in women. The anatomical and more so the extended anatomical creates as the name implies an anatomically correct projection to correct a "weak" chin. When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin". Proper placement of a silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face. Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck. Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty (requires extensive tissue dissection, bone cuts and placement of metal screws and plates to secure the cut segments of bone). I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. Hope this helps.
