I have always hated my profile, always felt insecure about it. I got the bump in my nose shaven down in 8th grade but am still not happy with my profile. I was told I had a weak chin so I made an appointment with a local surgeon who told me a high percentage of chin implants actually fail and "reject" is the term he used which scared me. I would like the skin under my chin pulled up somehow for a more defined jaw line. My chin tends to look large head on when I smile, yet weak from the side?

Answer: Possible weak chin & Desire tighter neck skin Good Day. Thank you for your question, narrative and photographs. You are a beautiful, young woman. Evaluating your photographs and narrative, I don't believe you have a weak chin (lack of anterior projection). Your neck has an acute angle with your jaw (cervicomental angle), which is aesthetically pleasing. In terms of your profile, I recommend making some changes with a computer morphing program to see what you desire. The front photograph view does show that there is some lack of fullness on either side of your chin (pre jowl sulcus or mesolabial fold). You may benefit from fullness here. The volume can be from fillers (temporary or permanent- Bellafill), fat transfer (don't recommend because of your young age), or a pre jowl silastic implant. Most patients chose a filler. The statement about chin implants failing: I have never had an infection from a chin implant. I have had one patient have the chin implant erode some anterior jaw (mandible) bone, that required a sliding osteotomy to keep the appearance. In summary, I recommend a morphing photographic analysis to confirm the appearance you desire and then review the therapeutic options to achieve that look.

Answer: Chin Implants Hi. Thank you for your question. In my opinion you should consult with a few more Board Certified , experienced surgeons. I do not agree with the Doctor that told you that most chin implants fail. I have been performing the surgery for many many years and the success rate is phenomenal. Best of luck to you.
