Skin discoloration after lipo, 10 months post op. Any advice? (Photo)

Lipo 10 months ago, had an extremely interesting journey but happy to be healthy again!! With that said I have some discoloration as picture . Its under the skin and not something I can feel (not raised etc) just curious if there's anything I can do to aid in lightening

My guess is that you had laser or ultrasonically assisted liposuction. This can create thermal damage to the skin and resulted hyperpigmentation. Occasionally this is permanent.

Thank you for your question.  Sorry to hear you are having problems with your skin color returning to normal.  On the average, a scar takes a year to heal, and return to the normal state before the trauma from surgery.  With that said, I usually offer my patients ultrasound treatment for bruising immediately after surgery.  Since you are 10 months post op, you would require some laser treatment to help with the redness and lighten up the area of concern.  I would also consider talking about this with the surgeon that did your liposuction and get their opinion.  Good luck, and this might resolve on its own.

Sometimes this is permanent if this is "ab igne."  I suggest a formal consultation.  I have found that radiofrequency treatments sometimes help such as venus legacy and velashape.  Best, Dr. Emer.
