Gynecomastia post op. Is my doctor going to make me live with these painful lumps? Why do they hurt? Will it get better?

Thank you for your question.The lumps that you feel may be residual swelling or blood which will resolve. The puffiness of the nipples, when stimulated is likely because of the nerve and muscle cells in the nipple / areola area. Your surgeon can examine you and tell you about both the issues. In any case, it is too early to think of having more tissue removed at this time.  Please wait for at least 6 months to go by. All The Best !

Hi iamkevin,Thanks for the post and photos. This is a common issue on this forum. The puffiness is either due to scar or residual glandular tissue. Refer to the link for more information on how to differentiate. I recommend waiting until you are at least 6 months out from surgery before pursuing revision surgery. If it is scar tissue, then a trial of kenalog injections may help. Sincerely,Dr. Dadvand

Nobody else can read your doctor's plan about what he/she plans to do next.  More tissue removal is one of the options. Discuss with your surgeon. 

From your photos, you do seem to have some extra tissue behind your nipples since your surgery.  This can usually be corrected by removing some more tissue which I usually can do in the office under local anesthesia.  I would wait at least 1-2 more months before I think about having something done.  The pain should resolve by then and perhaps the bumps, which are probably scar tissue, should soften as well.
